TUDUNG-TUDUNG
TUDUNG-TUDUNG
Instalasi Video
Dimensi pelbagai
2007
Takbir!

Text by Shireen Naziree, curator of Out of The Mould: The Age of Reason exhibition:
As political incursion increasingly polarizes the Islamic world and its obscurant forces play out their agenda – art expressions within the Islamic context have been invested with new meaning. Nur Hanim Khairuddin in her video installation presentation Tudung Tudung redefines conventions that banish the figure, which she marries through form and film. Her close links with the ritual forms of textiles, which have been part of her early oeuvre, echo the deep significance with her own Malay heritage and punctuate the rhythm of life on so many different levels. However Tudung Tudung is wrapped in a much deeper meaning. Malaysia is currently holding the Secretariat of the OIC and has been applauded as a role model as a peaceful Islamic society. But the question that Nur Hanim asks – Is Anyone Listening?
